The top opens with a press of the pedal, then a lever opens for the diaper to be deposited. Sealed lid, no unpleasant odors. We bought two of these for our center to replace our smaller diaper genies. Within hours of using them we started getting complaints from not only our staff, but our clients regarding the "port-a-potty" like odor. We have to wrap each diaper in a plastic bag THEN place it in the pail AND use multiple air fresheners just to cover the smell. This was never a problem with the smaller genie. I like the size, but may end up going back to the smaller one due to the smell and additional cost. I don't want my center to stink. I would not recommend this product unless they come out with a better liner system.

Does not comply to the description, "no unpleasant odors (odor free), "touch less" (dirty diapers must be pushed down into bag to release), "not see the content" (front door panel does not lock and swings open revealing nasty contents). DO NOT PURCHASE!

Love this diaper pail!No odors! Easy to use!Has a built in cutter in the door to cut the bag - no waste tie a new knot and it becomes bottom of bag.Look is sleek and kids ignore it.Great in my home daycare but would be awesome in centers too!I just didnt relize how expensive the refills were. Almost the cost of buying a new one and getting the liners free.
