A way to seal pocket

We would like to figure out a better way for sealing the pocket where the child info goes. We do laminate them and only surface wash them but they still get water, milk etc inside and then after awhile they need to be replaced. We used them Toddler through Preschool.

The pocket in which we place the child's photo rips off very easily. Toddlers (and older children) pick at things. The pocket renders itself usless after one use.
