Playgrounds – Western United States
Mike comes to Kaplan with over a decade of combined experience in playgrounds, youth sports, and sports turf. Mike has held a variety of positions in youth sports, including coach, manager, and youth coordinator; he has also managed sports fields, facilities, and playgrounds for a major parks district. Particularly relevant for his new position, Mike is a certified playground safety inspector.
Mike's varied professional experience has shown him that his passion is play-whether that be in sports or on playgrounds. More specifically, Mike thinks that playgrounds are a place to learn, grow, and test one's abilities. As a result, Mike believes it is important to create safe play environments where everyone can play. This attitude will inform every aspect of his work in our Playgrounds department.
Mike serves the Midwest/West playground territory, which includes Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, California, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and Hawaii.
When he's not working, Mike enjoys exercising (especially on the Peloton), barbecuing, entertaining, golf, and traveling. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and his rescue dog, Peaches.
